Baby Dobs...the preparation

Many of you have mentioned that I should blog about Chris and mine's journey towards creating our little miracle and I thought it was a great idea!  So I will try as hard as I can to keep up with this so you all can read about this incredible journey!

So let's start with our first visit to the fertility specialist.  We met Dr. Ripps on Wednesday November 9th.  He was very encouraging and really gave us a lot of confidence that he was going to help do everything within his capabilities to make this happen for us!  He went over a lot of medical info with us and put me on a plan to start with.  The funniest thing is that he has me on birth control right now, but I've heard that actually helps in the conceiving process.  After the BC then he's going to have me take another medication that is stronger than the clomid I was taking.  Our first goal is to get me to ovulate, since I can't seem to do that now...then we will move on to the getting pregnant part.

So the adventurous part happened yesterday.  Dr. Ripps scheduled me to have some blood work done as well as several tests including a fasting test.  I go into his office at 8 am (haven't eaten since 11 pm the previous night) and his nurse tries to draw some blood.  After 3 sticks she couldn't find a vein.  She finally decided to send me over to the lab at the hospital's medical center where I see my regular doc and my OB/GYN.  Well by the time I got over to the hospital it was time for my physical therapy session for my knee so I had to wait until 10 am to finally get to the lab.  Once there I received one more unsuccessful stick and then FINALLY they found a vein that worked!  By 1pm I was done.  I had a total of 8 sticks, 10 tubes of blood, 4 pee tests, 14 hours without food and 1 really nasty orange tasting sugar drink!  Seemed like a lot to go through but it will be well worth it in the end!

So that is the first few days of this crazy adventure!  I'm looking forward to see what other "fun" things I get to experience!  I'm excited and confident that 2012 will be the year for us!
